5 DAYS IN CHIANGMAI. ADVENTURES WITH FIRE BREATHERS.

AHOY! POST straight ahead!!!

Chiang Mai is AMAZING!!!
RELEASE THE LANTERNS!!!
We were in Chiang Mai, Thailand for the past 5 days enjoying the sites, sounds, and the FOOD!!! We were lucky to catch a late night bus from Bangkok so we could make it in time for the amazing Loi Krathong/Lantern Festival! It happens every year on the Full Moon in the 12th month of the Thai Lunar Calendar, which is usually November for us Americans. The festival started as a way of celebrating respect to the spirit of the waters, but now it is just a time for Thai people to party and have a bunch of fun!

Those aren't stars, they're lanterns!

There were awesome fireworks, a huge parade, the water was filled with krathongs(flower rafts), thousands of lanterns in the sky, and just crazy debauchery around every corner. We had a blast!

Beautiful!
A video of some of what we experienced!:

To end with, here is one of our favorite photos (actually 3 photos) from the festival!:

7 HOURS IN TAIPEI. AN ADVENTURE WITH STICKY BUNS!

Our Flight to Bangkok from San Francisco included a 7 hour layover in Taipei, Taiwan. So, we had 7 hours to go through immigration, find a bus to take us to the city, get some food, and get back to catch our connecting flight to Bangkok!

Here some highlights from our mini vacation in Taiwan!

Danial, walking the walk. Taipei Airport. The walls had real plants growing out of them!
We made our way downtown and found a little food stall to eat some sticky buns for breakfast! They were filled with cabbage, ground meat, and had salty sauce on em! YUM! We also got some warm milky green tea drinks that were amazing!
Enjoying our breakfast!
The weather was wet, warm, and foggy.

Wandering around Taipei.
So many scooters! And 7/11s on almost every corner.

The money!
The monies and a wrapper from cream filled tasties!
Adios!

The Game Plan...

So, here is the "Master Plan", as of right now. We will keep it brief. We will give you more info about our preparations, our mindset, and other really cool stuff as we go along.

We fly out of SFO, land in Taipei, Taiwan, then go from there to Bangkok, Thailand. Here is a map we made!:

The Game Plan
We started this adventure in Los Angeles, more specifically Winnetka. After 4 awesome yard sales, we finally made the move up to Fort Bragg. We stayed in Fort Bragg for 2 weeks with our families. Letting our pets get situated, having 2 more yard sales, getting our vaccinations, packing, planning, and spending lots of time with our families.

From Fort Bragg we got a ride with our parents to the Santa Rosa Airporter, which we took to SFO. The cost of which is $32 one way each. We got there super early. One of the reasons being, Danial is deathly afraid of flying. But, BAM! conquered!

We got our tickets through China Airlines, cost: $2040.00 for 2 roundtrip economy tickets. We got our tickets through STA TRAVEL, a website that gives discounts for Students, Teachers, and anyone under 26 years of age. They had the best price of anywhere that we could find, and we looked at A LOT of websites!

Our flight took off at 12:30am on November 8th, we landed in Taipei, Taiwan at 6:05am on November 9th. 13 hours on the plane, turbulence, 2 meals, touch screen tvs, and the Smurfs movie.

Taipei is awesome (we have a 7 hour layover, which is cool with us cause we got to leave the airport and go into town)! The next post will be about it!

Our Trip in California
Our Arrival in Thailand!

When we get to Bangkok we are going to make our way over to the Hua Lamphong Railway Station, to catch a train up to Chiang Mai for the Lantern Festival that is on the 10th. We are not sure how we are going to get from the Airport to the Train Station, but we will be sure to let you know what we do!

That is it for now! We are getting ready to get on the plane to Bangkok! The adventure is going amazing, and we still can't believe we're in ASIA!!!

Signing off!

Introduction time...

HI!

Welcome to our travel blog!

This is us!:

We are The Adventurous Duo! We're going to be backpacking SOUTH EAST ASIA for 4 MONTHS, we leave in 3 DAYS, and we are super excited!

We will be posting awesome photos and videos along the way, tips and tricks, money info (we are going to try and tell you almost every cent we spend), and just show you that traveling is possible for anyone!

This is our first really big overseas trip, so we're going to be making mistakes and learning a lot! We've saved up money, quit our jobs, found a place to store our stuff, found the cheapest flights we could, and now we're ready to party!

We want to provide info to people that we feel we couldn't find anywhere online, and we also want advice from YOU! Tell us what you've done, where you've been, where NOT to go, where the best ladyboys are (joking, maybe?), and definitely where the best food is!

Thanks for stopping in! Leave us comments, and subscribe! We will love you forever, or until we meet another hot internet person.

We are so excited! GEE WHIZ!!!

ADIOS!!!
